One step at a time...

Janeen's list of To Do's may be longer than she would like. Doctors, nurses and loved ones are encouraging her each day to push herself one step further along the road to recovery. Her speech is a bit strained while she continues to work through it each day, and her movement as far as walking is a definite work in progress. Through it all, however, she can still manage a beautiful smile and a good ole belly laugh every so often.

Tomorrow Janeen will probably be moved to Walnut Lawn in preparation for rehab. It is the best kind of "medicine" (aka therapy) to get her walking on her own, and for her to find strength within herself to proceed with her everyday activities.

Every now and then we have been able to update Janeen with your blog comments and Facebook messages. The tears of joy she sheds is sure indication of how much she greatly appreciates each and every one of you.

Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid , for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand. -Isaiah 41:10

  1. Janeen,
I just wanted to let you know that you have been in our family's prayers since we found out about your surgery last week. You are an amazing person and I know that God was there during your surgery, guiding your doctor, just as he is every day while you are recovering. We all miss you in Phys. Be joyful in knowing that God is there for you and keep smiling! You are a light to others.

  9. Janeen I know you are just like Alice and can make very short work of a "to do " list. Lean on your friends and family---because pain shared has only half the strength as pain hidden!
Every step gets you a little closer to home.
Hang in there girl--you are an inspiration to everyone!

    Hugs from Iowa!

  13. Janeen,
I miss my lab partner! Studying at borders in not the same without you. Me, Amanda, and Alisha are going to come see you as soon as you can have visitors. We feel really bad about kidding around that you needed to get it together now that we know what the problem was. I am praying for your recovery!
    Love ya,

  14. Janeen,
We are all thankful to hear of your successful surgery & progress. You are in our constant thoughts and prayers. As we are currently in our own situation, trust me when I say the love and prayers of everyone around you will get you through! My favorite comment posted on our website read, "God is not holding on to you by a tiny thread, but an unbreakable chain". Keep that belly laugh going (I think I can literally hear it now), because God is definitely watching over you! We love you so much and can't wait to see you home!

    Love,

Dan, Breeyn, Dawsyn, Karsyn & Presly Lane

  15. Janeen, I might have met you once before at your Mom's house at a birthday party for your Grandma? Me and Brent came and we had hamburgers. I think maybe you came and went on some previous appointment. OH WELL, I may or may not have met you. I hear about you all the time from your Mom and Stacey (my best friends). I am glad to hear of your progress and pray each and everyday that you improve each and everyday. This blog thing is very very new to me. This is the first one I have seen. They are pretty informative and very cool. I did as well enjoy the pictures on the site. I just found out this evening that you can go into each of the things people say and see other comments! I am a slow learner, LOL. GODSPEED GIRL !! Brent and Brenda Green

  18. Janeen,
I know you were so tired on Thursday, but I was still glad to see your sweet face. You looked as pretty as you always do. You are working so hard at getting back to where you want to be. Keep going forward and know you have so many people who love you. Randy said to get with it so we can go out for dinner, his treat! (As you know, that's quite an offer from him! HA-HA!)
    I love you girl!
    Love, Bets
